Unigate has grown from humble beginnings to become a key role player in Somalia market as well as the African Horn. We are both humbled and proud to share some of the milestones we reached as we progressed on this unique and brave journey.

Planting the seed of our future

Unigate Logistics was originally founded in 2004 as a small trading company to supply essentials to the Somali market.

Establishing a nexus for trade between Somalia and the world

In 2004, Unigate Logistics was established as a small bulk commodity trading company to supply Somali traders and assist organisations from around the globe with a turnkey solution to move goods to Somalia and surrounds.

Constructing an ideal environment for storing goods

In 2006, Unigate established its first warehouse in Mogadishu to safely receive, store and distribute our clients goods in Somalia and surrounds. Today, we have warehousing facilities in Somalia that is fully utilised by UN agencies for their Aid and Relief cargo.

Establishing air cargo services at Mogadishu Airport

Another major development in 2010, was positioning Unigate as a leading provider of the full spectrum of air cargo services at Mogadishu Airport, where we effectively serve a multitude of commercial, humanitarian and diplomatic institutions, to this day.

Creating a safe space for business to live and work in

In 2016, the Unigate constructed Palm Business Park, a mixed-use development comprising a fully-fledged hotel with offices and conference facilities, as well as life support services to make it possible for international organisations to safely conduct business, stay and travel in the area.

Keeping our clients and their goods safe

In 2016 Unigate also established City Gate Security, a dedicated safety and risk management division to help organisations protect permanent or temporary operations on the ground and safely transport goods and people in and around the area.

Supporting the expansion of oil and gas infrastructure

As Somalia’s powers-that-be officially opened up opportunities for investors from around the globe to obtain licences to explore for oil and gas in Somalia in 2019, Unigate Logistics rapidly aligned its operations to fully meet all the logistical and operational needs of gas and oil operators.

Establishing models for trade partnerships with international brands

Since 2019, and based on market demand, Unigate Logistics has successfully developed a number of models to enable trade partnerships with global brands, including brand franchise, joint venture and joint investment agreements, to help brands expand into the area and unlock new opportunities for business growth.

Continuously building a legacy to be proud of

Today, Unigate Logistics is both humbled and proud to be a top and trusted enabler of trade in Somalia and surrounds, as well as the rest of the Horn of Africa. Our portfolio of blue-chip organisations such as UN agencies, government institutions from the United States of America, United Kingdom and Italy, as well as multinational organisations in Somalia, is testimony to exactly that.
