Chairman of the Board
Founder and CEO of Unigate
Mr. Ali is an aspirational business leader whose career is the epitome of the simple truth: “The harder you work, the luckier you get.”
He started his working life as a tailor over three decades ago, from where he was offered the opportunity to become a Logistics and Operation Director at Elman Port in Somalia. After gaining sufficient experience in business, Ali heeded the call of his entrepreneurial spirit and founded Unigate Logistics (then called Banadir Gate) in 2004, and as they say, the rest is history.
Today, Ali continues to drive exponential growth for Unigate, all fuelled by the company’s higher purpose: to lead the private sector to stimulate symbiotic trade, reconnect Somalia and the African Horn with the rest of the world and contribute towards the human capital and socio-economic empowerment of this continent and her people.
